so that I know what method your character is using to try to contact him so that he can respond properly

First, you'll need to find some. The legitimate kind, I won't support any stealing you try to do.

[He actually rolls his eyes a little at that.]

Oh yeah? And just where would I be able to find the "legitimate" kind of money?

Most people get jobs. [Even children their age have jobs. Small ones, pocket change, but lower and middle-class children see it as part of life, don't they?]

...But jobs aren't fun, they're boring. [Plus do you really expect him to take orders from other people...]

"If they were fun, they would not be called work." That's what Grandfather says.

[Crow actually gives a nod of agreement at that.] See, even your grandfather thinks that jobs are not fun, but me, I like to do the things that are fun, so I guess I'll just have to keep doing things the way I've been doing them already... [In other words by using illegitimate means to get money...]

Besides, it's not all bad--it's kinda being like that Robin Hood guy; you know, taking from the rich and giving to the poor?

Crow, Robin Hood is a story. [Like your love life.] Things like that don't work out in the real world.

Yeah, well, maybe they should. [he shrugs] Who knows, a lot of things could be a lot better that way.

[At least, if they were based on the good stories with good endings anyway...]

The part you think would be better is that people would laud you as a thief instead of sending you to the police.

You say that like it would be a bad thing if people did that...

[That's because it probably is a bad thing, Crow...]

I'm sure you'll understand my meaning if you keep thinking about it.

[He pauses to think about it for a second. He's still not seeing what the problem here is if it means staying out of jail--

--oh wait, is it because Robin Hood eventually dies at the end of his story?]

...Well other than his death at the end, if everything else about that story worked out for the better, then it would be alright? [You know, if we could just skip over the part where we die and still get to stay out of jail.]

You would still be a thief! Just as you are now. That's no way to really live, especially as a skirt-chasing street crook.

[These are all her usual insults, the ones he always takes for flirting. She's sort of smiling again, too.]

[Yep, as expected, Crow grins a little cheekily at that.]

Wow, you say the sweetest things. I'm almost a little flattered. [Almost because yes, he does recognize it as an insult, but at the same time...well, he is a street crook, so you can't fault her for honesty.]

You should be flattered to have my attention at all.

[tomodachi]

Is that so? [He can't help but laugh a little at that.] I could possibly say the same about you, too--I don't give my attention to just every girl out there, so you should consider yourself pretty lucky. [Yeah right, Crow...]

And yet I envy those other girls their lack of your misguided affection.

[tomodachi]

[ow--he frowns slightly, but then he shrugs it off after a second]

Say what you like, but I swear my affection is anything but "misguided"; it's a shame that you can't see that yet.

[Oh, that hurt him. Rue doesn't like that, and her expression softens to match.]

I can let it slide, this time. Far be it for me to turn aside admiration from a boy.

[He's being a little sarcastic, but the tone is more friendly than bitter. He might not be "honored" exactly, but he can't say he doesn't like having people to talk to.]

It's an honor I don't give to just everyone. [She knows better than to think it's actually an honor, too.] Be careful, or else I'll steal your heart away for real some day, Crow.

Really? [How scary...not.] Heh, can't say I'm not looking forward to seeing you try, when that day comes.
