Right... [But Crow is eyeing him a little suspiciously nonetheless. That is some pretty odd information to process, and maybe there's a part of him that's a little jealous that Firo can recover so easily from stuff that would probably kill him...]

So...what? You died and just got right back up again out there? [Out on the battlefield Firo was at recently, he means.]

[Firo's not sure what to make of that look. Some people mistake immortality for the sure sign of a vampire or a monster. Firo can't always be sure he isn't the latter, but if he is, it's not because of the elixir.]

Sorta. This time was... different. For starters, everybody came back, not just me. And when we were dead, it was... different.

Different? How?

[He's always assumed that death is the same for everybody...]

[It was far more horrifying than any time before it. But he doesn't want to admit that to anyone, especially not Crow.]

It felt different. It's not important.

[tomodachi]

How is that not important? It's death, isn't it? That's like...a really big deal for a lot of humans, right?

[And for him too, but Mr. "I can't get hurt" is a little hesitant to admit it.]

[Uh oh. He's a little worried that Crow's seen through his lie, but he'll continue it anyway.

Despite his best efforts, his speech becomes noticeably more clipped, suggesting something's amiss.]

Yeah, well. It's not a big deal for me.

[tomodachi]

...You're kidding, right?

[Because this is pretty damn hypocritical, for you to harp on him about the stunts he pulls and now saying that dying isn't actually a big deal to you, you know? Plus...well, there's a reason he's glad Seto is asleep right now, otherwise this would probably be a bad conversation to have with him around...]

[He blinks and stares at Crow. Was his lying really so obvious? He's going to have to work on that.]

What?

[Firo's rarely aware of his own hypocrisy.]

[Without warning, there's a fist coming towards your face. If Firo doesn't dodge it in time, it's gonna end up being pretty painful, what with the robotic hand and all. It might even leave a bruise or break his nose if Crow's aim is off, at least until the immortal healing powers kick in.

Either way, Crow is attempting to punch you in the face. What will you do, Firo?]

[Firo doesn't see it coming until it's too late. Much as he'd preach against it to others, he'd let his guard down once he got home. He tries to move out of the way, but that only runs his mouth right into Crow's fist.

He's more confused than angry as he blinks at Crow, hand covering his face. Though it'll heal in a moment, there's a cut on his lip and his face is smarting.]

What the hell was that for?!

Because that was a really stupid thing to say, you moron!

[Besides, what does it matter, your face is gonna heal in a few seconds or so right, which makes him feel almost no guilt at all about hitting you.]

[foundafamily]

[For a moment, Firo forgets that others are sleeping and raises his voice. Maybe volume will make up for his lack of certainty.]

It wasn't stupid-- it's the truth!

Then you're an idiot. [He even stretches the word out a little as he says it.]

Of course death is a big deal, you can't just say that it's not just because you've got that trick of yours or whatever.

[That makes him reel almost as much as the punch.]

[Well, he is in a lot of things, but he doesn't think he is in this.]

It's not. And that's no reason to hit me.

Yes it is! Geez, do I need to hit you again or something before you stop saying that?

[Because he really will hit you again if he thinks he has to.]

[He shakes his head, still dumbfounded. By now, his feelings hurt more than his face--despite all their arguments, has Crow ever gotten angry enough to lash out?]

I'm allowed to have my opinions, you know. I don't smack you around for yours.

That's because I'm not dumb enough to say that death isn't a big deal, unlike some idiots around here.

[He's still going to keep saying that you're an idiot about this, sorry Firo.]

[Firo stares--well, it's sort of half a glare--at Crow as he tries to figure out just what offended the kid so much. When he finally comes up with something, he feels a little guilty.]

...Are you worried about dyin'?

[But can Crow even die? Firo'd assumed that a robot couldn't.]

[Erk] Don't be ridiculous.

[But he doesn't follow it up with "of course I can't die" or something cocky like that, as you might have expected.]

[Being a fan of blatant denial himself, Firo has a hunch Crow isn't telling the truth.]

...If that's what was botherin' you, you coulda' just said it.

[The bulk of his anger evaporates. He doesn't like getting punched, but he supposes he can't get mad at Crow for being afraid.]

[Hmph] Look, that's not it at all. [It's not himself he's worried about when it comes to death, but it shouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who Crow would be the most worried about if they died.] 'Sides, I can't die, not like how you humans do, anyway.

[...But that implies that there is something that could cause him to "die", so to speak.]

[Firo's not sure what to make of the qualification "not like you humans." He knows death is inevitable for most, but he thought Crow was at least safe from it.

...He doesn't know if Crow will accept him asking about how he can die, though. He sighs. He still needs to figure out what's actually bothering Crow, too.]

Then what is it?

Do I really gotta spell this out for you?

[Leaning closer, but thankfully it doesn't look like he's about to punch Firo in the face again.]

Look you moron, what do you think Seto would say if he heard you talking and saying things like "death isn't a big deal", huh?

[Oh. Firo's eyes go wide; he hadn't considered that.]

I--

[That thought is concerning enough that Firo's gaze breaks off from Crow's and he glances quickly around the room to make sure that Seto isn't hearing this.]

I-I didn't say it to him, did I?

[Nonetheless, he realizes Crow has a point. Admitting that will be harder.]

[Crow simply glares at Firo for a long moment, before he replies.]

...No, I don't think he heard anything yet. [He's glanced around too to make sure that Seto wasn't here, and so far he hasn't seen him. Still, he holds up a fist.] But if I ever hear you say anythin' like that again in front'a him, I'm gonna punch you some more, got it?
