At first it might seem like the person holding the book is holding it wrong, but it'll become quickly apparent that he is holding it the right way, it's him that's upside down, possibly hanging from a tree as he examines the journal.]

So this thing actually works, and you guys can see and hear me, right? [A slight shake of the book, as if to confirm it.] Geez, this makes some of the books at home seem lame by comparison...

But I gotta say, I wasn't expecting to suddenly find myself here, and to think that there's actually people here too. Heh...I guess this is where everyone's been hiding out this whole time, huh? Not like it really matters anymore, this place already seems somewhat better than the last place I was at...

[There's a slight pause before he speaks again.] Actually, there is something I want to know. Have any of you seen a guy? About this tall [makes a gesture to try indicating the height, albeit somewhat inaccurate from where he's hanging upside-down], wears a locket, and kind of cries a lot? Named "Seto"? It's important that I know if he's here or not. If he is, great, tell me where he is, and if not, then don't bother worrying about it.

[And without much further preamble, he ends it there to wait for replies. But it's also entirely possible to spot him while you're out and about as well...]

Heh--not just any friend, I'm his best friend. [A fact he seems to be very proud of. And then he swings and propels himself up so that he's now sitting upright on the tree branch rather than hanging upside down from it.] So come on, if you know him, tell me where he is already so that I can go find him.

Best friend...? I don't know where he is exactly at the moment, but I'm sure you could reach him through the journal. Just...what's your name?

[He just grins at that now] Hey now, didn't anyone ever teach you any manners? You gotta give your name first before you start asking for someone else's name.

[Kazuma just...makes a face. He thinks Crow finds his name funny and now he thinks Crow's insulting his intelligence by spelling his name out.]

I don't recall Seto mentioning he knew someone name Crow. Are you both from the same world?

[He's not too surprised--probably didn't want to keep thinking about his dead friends.]

Well yeah, of course we are! Where else would we be from?

I...I was just checking. [Didn't Seto say there was practically no one alive where he was from? Hrm.]

[He just kind of stares at you for a moment, a bit confused now--why would someone want to check if they were from the same world, there's practically only one isn't there?]

I...it's just that people who are brought here can be from anywhere, from any world so...

[A nod] Yea...even different versions of the same world. I've met a few people from different Earths myself.

Is that right... [His tone is skeptical, but...would that explain why there was suddenly so many people here when there had been practically no one back in his world?] Then how did I even get here?

Um...I uh, I think people said it's because of a shift? You're going to hear about the shifts a lot while you're here...it's sort of like an alteration.

An "alteration", huh? [There's a slight pause as he thinks it over.] I don't really get what anyone would need to alter, but it still sounds really weird.

That's what the people who run this place, the Malnosso are studying. You'll...probably get caught in their experiments to study the shifts.
