Well...distracting people is fun, but how do I know that you wouldn't leave as soon as you've gotten their money or whatever?

[Not that Crow...has any right to accuse anyone of doing that considering he would be sorely tempted to leave someone out to dry too if the cops showed up. Then again, you look more trustworthy than we do, so it's possible you'd hold their attention longer than we would...decisions, decisions...]

[Firo frowns at the thought that Crow doesn't trust him, but he can't blame the kid. There's a lot of people who would run off with the money.]

Like I said, it's your choice. I'm willin' to trust you to be the one to take, so if that's what you wanna do, then say so.

[When you live like how we do, it's hard not to have trust issues of some kind.]

...Fine, I'll be the one to take their stuff this time. [And after a second of thought, he grudgingly admits:] Besides, you look more like a saint than we do, so who knows, you might even be able to hold their attention longer without them immediately calling their bodyguard, if they have one. [Where as the second they see ratty-looking kid like us, we might not be so lucky.]

[He glares at Crow and slouches slightly. Anything about the way he looks is still a big sore spot for him, even if looking innocent is a big help in his line of work.]

I don't look like a saint...

[He sighs and decides to jab back at Crow.]

Just don't screw it up, okay? I don't want us gettin' caught just 'cause you're not as good as you say you are.

[Of course, he wouldn't have asked Crow if he didn't know he was really good.]

[Crow rolls his eyes a little.]

I'm not gonna screw it up. Just make sure you can distract him too, okay?

[Which...he wouldn't have agreed if he didn't think Firo could in fact be useful for this, so the feeling's mutual.]

Of course I can. I don't take a chance if I don't think it'll work.

[He motions for Crow to follow him as he starts walking.]

C'mon, his street's his way. At least, the one I've seen him on.

Then let's go already! Tally-ho!

[He saw that word in a book somewhere and thought it looked cool, don't ask. Crow will follow Firo, falling into step behind him. Hopefully the rich guy happens to be out and about today--he'd hate to have to wait around only for nothing to happen...]

[He shakes his head, but he's smiling when he says it. He leads them down the street, pausing to look around after they've gone a little ways from where they met up.]

Here should be good. We should have about... ten minutes, I think.

[Not as weird as you, Firo...I mean uh--]

Got any ideas about how you want to distract the guy?

[He shrugs, a blank look on his face.]

I was thinkin' I was just gonna make it up as I go along...

[He has an idea and nearly a whole script cooked up, actually, but he wants to see if he can get a reaction out of Crow.]

Seriously? You're just gonna wing it?

[Firo, we actually expected better of you--"making it up as you go along" is practically our thing.]

That's what you say now. After they reveal how long they've been watching you rob hapless citizens, you might change your tune.

[Crow actually pauses a little at that--would the police really have been watching the whole time?--before he shrugs it off.]

W--well, until that day comes, if ever, I'm free to try and do whatever I want. Besides, my so-called "crimes" are not as bad as other people's; in fact, my thefts are not as bad as the theft you committed when we first met.

[If you're thinking that this probably leads into one of his really sad attempts to woo her, you'd probably be correct.]

[Rue sighs and rolls her eyes as she's done a dozen times before.]

[To his credit, Crow manages to keep a straight face for this.]

My heart, of course! [He places a hand over his chest.] I'd say it's even more valuable than whatever these rich guys may have--you should consider yourself a pretty good thief too. [Crow...]

My dear Crow, I've stolen the hearts of so many that I might turn it into a career one day. [She's only mostly joking. Rue knows she inherited her mother's striking looks, and boys have practically fallen at her feet before, just for the chance to talk to their crush. Apart from that, it is always her goal to steal the audience's hearts at performances - something she feels confident in her ability to handle.]

Yours is just a pittance in comparison.

Ouch. [But he can't help but grin, despite the slight insult.] Geez, you sure know how to wound a guy, too...

You've given me so much practice.

[If she thought Crow minded, she might sing a different song. But he so obviously enjoys himself.]

Is this what they mean by "practice makes perfect", or however that goes? 'Cause that might explain a few things...

[But okay, even with his silly replies, he is genuinely curious.] You presume to know what I'm up to, so how about you? Were you heading off to steal another heart to add to your collection?

Practice is good in all aspects of life. You're good at being a delinquent, after all, aren't you?

[At the mere idea that she might be doing something actually diabolical, Rue scoffs.]

For your information I'm on my way to a study group.

[He says nothing to the delinquent comment just yet, instead commenting on her destination.]

A study group? [...Oh right, that's what good students do.] Can't say I've ever been to one of those--heard that they're kind of boring and dull in comparison to whatever people could be doing instead with their time. [Your terrible grades are probably a reflection of that, Crow...]

You can't say you've attended a high school class before either. How do you expect to move forward in this world without at least that much education?

[Wow excuse you--] I have been to class before--it's not very fun though, so I prefer spending my time doing better things. [You know, like stealing from people...I mean uh...] Besides, I can get by just fine with what I already know now.

[He can rely on his street smarts...or something. Or sometimes secretly glancing through his friend Seto's books or whatever books he finds thrown out. Who needs an education when you can just learn whatever you want elsewhere without having to listen to some boring teacher?]
