[Hello everyone! We hope you've been having a good day, that things are going well for you, and that you don't care about the kid that suddenly jumps down from the roof near you without any warning. Because that's exactly what Crow is doing as we speak: all day he's been climbing up onto the roofs of different small houses or trees, and then jumping down, trying to get the wings to work. You see, Crow is restless, and when he's restless, he tends to do...well, stupid things sometimes.

Of course the wings don't work though and he plummets like a stone, but luckily lands right on his feet just fine in most cases, or even if he doesn't land so gracefully, he gets right back up and walks it off. Eventually though he seems to have gotten frustrated.]

What's the point of having wings if they don't even let you fly!?

[If you're going to approach him, be careful about having anything shiny on your person when you do: Crow sometimes has a habit of taking things that don't belong to him as well. ((ooc: Don't worry though, you will get your stuff back if he actually tries to take anything.))]

Sure they did. Treasure Island was a pretty good one that came out when I was a kid. So's Peter Pan. They're both books, too.

Oh...and those are at the library too?

They sure are!

My friends and I loved 'em when we were growin' up. ...I guess they didn't have those books where you're from?

...I don't know. If they did, I just never got around to finding and reading 'em yet.

[Gotta make do with whatever you find instead in the meantime.]

[He nods. As hard as the card catalog and Dewey decimal system are, they're easier than random scavenging.]

Guess it doesn't matter, you can read 'em now. I wonder what else...

[He shakes his head impatiently.]

Luck'd be better for this.

[tomodachi]

Huh? [Crow ends up misinterpreting what Firo just said, not realizing he's talking about a person named Luck.] Well, yeah, sometimes you had to be lucky to find stuff you wanted, but isn't that obvious?

What're you-? Oh!

[He laughs; he hadn't thought that his friends don't always have the most common names.]

Luck's my friend. He's really into books and all that stuff.

[tomodachi]

...Oh. He's got an odd name.

[Says the guy whose name is "Crow"...]

You think so? I've been friends with him so long it seems normal to me.

[He shrugs.]

Card games are pretty popular in his family, so maybe that's where they got it.

[tomodachi]

[Oh he gets it now.]

I guess that makes sense.

[immamartillo]

It's all I can think of that'd make sense. Never thought to ask anyone.

Speakin' of names, why "Crow"?

[Given what he knows about Crow's world, he avoids asking if Crow got it from any family members. He has a feeling there might not be any.]

Huh? [He actually pauses momentarily in his walking to think about it--even though he used to write on the walls at the amusement park things about himself, he has no idea if Seto ever saw those writings, so it's possible Firo may be the first to have wondered aloud about it. After a moment, he shrugs.]

...I like crows. And "Crow" sounds like a cool pirate-like name to have, so I decided to pick that as a name to go by. [And yes, he did just imply that it's not his real name--he either didn't have a name before, doesn't remember it, or his real name is somehow worse.]

[He does want to ask if there was another name before "Crow" but holds off on it. That might be getting too deep into unpleasant history, and he doesn't want to risk that when they seem to be getting along.]

A pirate-like name?

[He smiles as he holds back a laugh. He liked pirates as much as the next kid, but wouldn't have thought to base a name off of it. Then again, at least there's a reason. Who knows what his parents were thinking of when they named him.]

I thought they hung out with parrots all the time, not crows.

[Err...well that's true, but...]

But crows like shiny things too. They sometimes steal stuff like pirates do, so it's a good name. [A fitting one, he means. Also, being named "Parrot" doesn't sound cool enough.]

Shiny things...

[Well, what else is treasure? The books always put it into more romantic terms, but Crow's words say it just as well.]

Guess that makes sense, then. Sounds like you wanna be a pirate, huh?

[tomodachi]

Not just "wanna be" one, I am gonna be one.

[He may not have been out on the sea before, but he's got some experience in knowing how to act like one, so that has to count for something!]

[immamartillo]

[This time, he can't stop a short laugh from escaping his lips.

You are? What makes you so sure a' that?

[tomodachi]

I just know it--I've already been working on being one, so it's only a matter of time.

[His tendency to take shiny things, the way he dresses and how he acts...]

You've been workin' on it? What, you got a boat stashed away somewhere?

[tomodachi]

No, don't be stupid. [Though his next idea would be to be get a boat but there's no place to sail it here.] I'm workin' on my skills as a pirate right now.

[Just out of curiosity, does Firo happen to have anything noteworthy and shiny on his person...?]

How's that stupid? Pirates use boats in all the stories!

What "skills" would that be?

[He does! The watch Maiza gave him for Christmas is on his wrist as it's always been since he got it. Crow may also have heard the occasional clinking of loose change in Firo's pocket, too.]

They do, but does it look like there's anywhere here that I could secretly keep a ship at? [And even if there is Seto would probably object to us living there anyway.]

And don't tell me you don't know what skills pirates have--it's all about the attitude, the ability to find shiny treasure, and taking that treasure for your own!

[Getting bored of just standing over here, he had started to walk towards the other now to properly join him or even just to move on past him to walk ahead. While he's saying all this, he may or may not be doing this so that's close enough to potentially swipe the watch or change here soon...]

There's the lake, but I guess that's not secret enough for you.

[He shakes his head.]

I do know! I'm just sayin', to get to do all that they usually learn to sail and stuff first. Plus, it'd be hard for 'em to steal much treasure if they couldn't work a gun or a cannon.

[A former pickpocket himself, Firo really should be suspicious of the sudden movement. And he is, but not enough so to move away more than an instinctive half step to the side. He's pretty sure it's just Crow being weird, nothing to worry about.]

Well I don't have either of those things, so I'll have to figure out some other way to work on those skills. I can't just stand around and wait until a ship just magically shows up here or whatever...

[The watch might be a little hard to remove without being noticed, but what about picking his pockets? Decisions, decisions, but he'll try to keep Firo distracted for a moment or two longer with talking...]

True. But you could probably find a gun around here somewhere, if you really wanted. I'm not sure if the people with boats would let you at one.

[The watch would be easier for Firo to notice if it were taken--and he'd probably react worse to it--but he hardly registers that the loose change is even there, so it shouldn't be to hard a target if Crow knows what he's doing.]
